After graduating from Yale Law School in 1973, Mike practiced at the Minneapolis Legal Aid Society and Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance for nine years as the first Director of Litigation. He was recognized for his work for persons with developmental disabilities. In 1982 he joined McEllistrem Fargione. After joining the firm, Mike continued to work for people who had debilitating injuries and obtained million dollar recoveries for his clients. He has also argued more than 20 cases in front of the Minnesota Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

Mike was appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court to two terms on the committee supervising no-fault arbitrations and to two terms on the Legal Services Advisory Committee. He has been an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law, and for 25 years has served as the editor of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Motor Vehicle Deskbook.

From 2007 to early 2014, he reduced his work in private practice to a part-time basis and once again returned to his former role as Director of Litigation at Legal Aid.

On the 34th anniversary of the firm’s founding, April 1, 2014, Mike returned to full time work with McEllistrem Fargione handling injury claims.

Mike is now on retired status but stays in regular contact with members of the firm.
